Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about dock construction, dock repair, retaining walls, and waterfront hardscaping in Highland Lakes TX.

Dock Construction

What does dock construction involve?

Dock construction involves designing, engineering, and building a boat dock or pier on a waterfront property. DockPro handles the full process — from initial design and permitting guidance through site preparation, structural construction, decking, and final installation.

How long does it take to build a new dock?

Most residential dock projects take 1–3 weeks depending on size, complexity, and materials. Larger commercial projects or custom covered boat slips may take longer. We provide a detailed timeline during your free estimate.

Do you build residential and commercial docks?

Yes. DockPro Construction builds both residential boat docks and commercial docks. We customize every build to your specific needs and waterfront conditions.

What materials do you use for dock construction?

We use only A-grade materials — pressure-treated lumber, marine-grade hardware, composite decking options, and materials rated for Texas lake conditions, UV exposure, and humidity. We never cut corners on materials.

Do I need a permit to build a dock in Texas?

Permit requirements vary by lake, county, and property. Some Highland Lakes reservoirs have specific LCRA or TPWD regulations. We can guide you through the permit process to ensure your project is fully compliant.

Dock Repair

How do I know if my dock needs repair?

Warning signs include: sagging or bouncy boards, visible rot or cracks, dock sitting lower in the water, loose or corroded hardware, unstable posts, and any damage after storms or flooding. If you notice any of these, call us for an inspection.

Can you re-float a sunken or sinking dock?

Absolutely. Re-floating docks is one of our specialties. We assess the flotation system, raise the dock, make structural repairs, and restore it to full working condition.

Do you offer preventive dock maintenance?

Yes. Regular maintenance prevents costly repairs and extends the life of your dock significantly. We offer maintenance programs — contact us to schedule a regular maintenance plan for your dock.

What types of dock damage do you repair?

We repair virtually everything: rotted or broken decking, damaged posts and pilings, rusted hardware, flotation failures, storm damage, and general structural deterioration. We also repair retaining walls, patios, and hardscapes at waterfront locations.

Retaining Walls & Hardscapes

Do you build retaining walls everywhere or only waterfront?

Our retaining wall, hardscape, and patio services are for waterfront and lakefront properties only. We focus exclusively on lakefront construction and have specialized expertise for those unique site conditions.

Why do waterfront properties need retaining walls?

Retaining walls prevent shoreline erosion, stabilize slopes, create usable flat areas on steep waterfront lots, control drainage, and can dramatically improve both the utility and appearance of your lakefront property.

Can you design a custom lakefront patio?

Yes. We handle the full scope from design through construction — including site assessment, material selection, grading, and final installation. A well-designed patio extends your living space right to the water's edge.

Pricing & Process

How much does a custom dock cost?

Dock costs vary widely based on size, materials, design complexity, and site conditions. Rather than quote a range that may not apply to your situation, we provide free, no-obligation estimates so you get accurate pricing for your specific project.

Is the owner involved in every project?

Yes. Unlike many contractors where owners just sell and disappear, Bryan Bennight works on-site with his team on every project. You deal with the owner directly — from estimate through completion.

Do you beat competitors' prices?

We work hard to beat local competitors' prices for equivalent quality custom waterfront work in the area. We never sacrifice materials or craftsmanship, but we are committed to fair, competitive pricing.

What areas do you serve?

DockPro Construction serves the entire Highland Lakes region and a 50-mile radius from Burnet TX — including Kingsland, Marble Falls, Granite Shoals, Lampasas, Llano, Horseshoe Bay, and surrounding communities.
